In an ongoing effort to promote a culture of cyber security and digital resilience, AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu, held a session. The Cyber Security Awareness Session took place on Saturday to educate participants about digital threats and safe practices. The session took place at the Convention Centre Auditorium on the AIIMS campus. It was designed to educate participants on the increasing threats in the digital world. And also about the importance of adopting safe cyber practices.
Expert Insight from Cyber Crime Specialist
The session was led by Mohd Yaseen Kichloo, Senior Superintendent of Police at the Cyber Investigation Centre for Excellence, Jammu & Kashmir. Kichloo is an expert in cyber crime investigation. He offered valuable insights into the growing cyber threats facing individuals and institutions today. His talk highlighted the need for both personal and institutional action to mitigate these risks.
AIIMS Jammu’s Commitment to Cyber Security
The event was attended by Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Jammu, Vijaypur, who was commended for his leadership in fostering a secure digital environment within the institution. Kichloo praised Prof. Gupta’s proactive approach in raising awareness and implementing cyber security initiatives.
Practical Cyber Security Tips
During the session, Kichloo explained the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, including phishing, identity theft, and ransomware. He also covered financial fraud and social engineering, emphasizing the need for greater vigilance. He emphasized the importance of adopting strong cyber hygiene habits to safeguard against these attacks.
The session included interactive demonstrations, where attendees observed real-world examples of cyber fraud and learned how to identify red flags early. Participants were educated on recognizing suspicious behavior, securing personal data, using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication, and being vigilant when sharing information online.
One of the key highlights of the session was Kichloo’s discussion on the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in both creating opportunities and posing new challenges for cyber security. He urged attendees to stay informed about AI technologies and to critically assess their ethical use and potential risks.
Active Participation and Future Initiatives
The session saw enthusiastic participation from AIIMS Jammu’s faculty members, administrative officers, IT teams, nursing staff, and also students, including MBBS and BSc Nursing students. The participants were actively engaged in the Q&A round, discussing day-to-day cyber practices, preventive measures, and institutional policies.
Prof. Gupta expressed appreciation for the session and reiterated AIIMS Jammu’s commitment to fostering a cyber-resilient environment by organizing such awareness programs regularly. He also stressed on the importance of continuing to educate staff and students on the ever-evolving cyber landscape.
