In an important judgment, the Karnataka High Court denied anticipatory bail to two ex-employees accused of sensitive defense data theft. Justice Mohammad Nawaz said cyber crimes linked to money and national security must be handled very carefully. He highlighted that such crimes can seriously harm the country.

Former Employees Blamed for Data Leak

NewSpace Research and Technologies Pvt. Ltd. accused its former employees of teaming up with a rival company, Lenviz Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The company said they stole secret defense research for personal gain. The stolen data involved important work connected to the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, BEL, HAL, and DRDO.

Court Orders Police Custody for Investigation

The court called cyber spying a serious crime. It feared the accused could hide or destroy evidence if released on bail. Investigators found that even after leaving the company, the accused still accessed, saved, and used confidential data. The court said this looked like a planned act against both the company and the nation.

Justice Nawaz also said that giving bail now could block the investigation. The accused might erase digital proof and slow down the work of the police. He stressed that strict action is needed in cyber crimes, especially those involving defense and aerospace data. Such crimes can risk national safety.

Strong Warning for Defense Sector

This case shows that defense research data is still very weak against cyber attacks. As cyber threats grow daily, companies must improve their security. They must use strong systems to stop data leaks. The court’s decision also gives a clear message. Insider threats and spying will face serious punishment.

The case reminds everyone to protect defense data and important systems. It shows why strong security rules and strict laws are needed. These steps help stop data theft and keep the country safe.
