Employee data breached at Grant County PUD, customers ‘not affected’

EPHRATA — A data breach at Grant County Public Utility District (PUD) exposed the personal information of around 850 employees. Including recent retirees and individuals who were on the payroll between March and April this year.

According to Christine Pratt, public affairs officer for the PUD, employees were informed about the incident through email notifications.

Glen Pruitt, senior manager of compliance and risk at the PUD, clarified that customer information remains secure and was not affected by the breach.

“The breach source has been identified and contained,” said Pruitt. “It was not the result of a cyberattack, and there is no ongoing risk or open access to PUD’s systems.”

Due to the investigation still being underway, PUD officials said they are unable to release further details at this time.

Customers who have concerns or questions can reach out to the PUD’s customer service team online or by calling (509) 766-2505.
