Hacker Breaches Customer Data at Max Financial’s Insurance Arm in India

Max Financial Services, a well-known financial company based in Noida, revealed on Wednesday that hackers may have accessed sensitive customer data from its insurance subsidiary, Axis Max Life Insurance. The alert came through an anonymous message sent to the company, raising concerns about unauthorized access.

Following the warning, Axis Max Life Insurance immediately launched a thorough internal investigation. The company began checking its systems by conducting a full information security assessment and reviewing digital activity logs to understand what exactly happened.

In an official statement, Max Financial said that cybersecurity experts are helping with the investigation. The professionals are investigating how the breach happened and deciding what steps to take to fix the issue and prevent future incidents.

Axis Max Life Insurance is one of the top five life insurance companies in India. According to its latest financial report, the company has a sum assured of ₹21.9 trillion (about $256 billion) and manages assets worth ₹1.75 trillion (around $20 billion).

Max Financial has not yet revealed how many customers the breach affected or what type of data the hackers accessed. However, the company has confirmed that security checks are still ongoing.

Tech news platform TechCrunch has contacted Axis Max Life Insurance for further details and is waiting for the company’s response.
