Landmark Admin Data Breach Now Affects 1.6 Million Poeple

Landmark Admin, a Texas-based company that handles services like policy accounting and regulatory reporting for big insurers, has given an update on a cyberattack it suffered in May 2024. The number of people affected by the attack has now risen to 1.6 million.

In October 2024, Landmark announced it had detected suspicious activity on its network starting on May 13, 2024. This unauthorized access may have exposed personal details of 806,519 people, including:

  • Full name
  • Home address
  • Social Security number
  • Tax ID number
  • Driver’s license number
  • State-issued ID number
  • Passport number
  • Financial account details
  • Medical information
  • Date of birth
  • Health insurance policy number
  • Life and annuity policy details

Landmark admin has promised to send a letter to everyone affected, detailing the specific information that was compromised, as the exact details vary for each person.

An updated filing from Landmark reveals that the number of impacted individuals has increased, now totaling 1,613,773.The investigation into the breach is still ongoing, so the final count might increase further.

Landmark has started reviewing the affected systems to identify which individuals’ data was exposed and what information was compromised. As more details become available, Landmark will send notifications to those affected. Read Notice

Anyone who receives a notification has 90 days to ask questions or address concerns through a dedicated helpline. Additionally, Landmark is offering 12 months of free identity theft protection and credit monitoring to help safeguard against the risks of exposed sensitive information.

They are also recommending people monitor their credit reports and consider placing fraud alerts or a security freeze to add extra protection.
