The new update gives users more control over the media they send. WhatsApp constantly improves chat, voice, and video calling experiences, but this time, the focus shifts to user safety and data protection. With this update, users can choose whether or not the media they send should save to the recipient’s phone, adding a new layer of security.

Previously, media received on WhatsApp automatically saved to the recipient’s device, causing concerns about potential misuse of data.
